Weekly Round Up

Posted on May 17th, 2007 by Simon Chen

Been a busy week - we’ve been going through our Omniture certification.

The team I work with will tell you that my ability to concentrate for 10 minutes let alone 2 days on something that I find technical in nature would be severely tested. It was. Thank god we all sat in front of desktops with solid internet access.

Obviously Google Analytics came up as a comparison. I’ll state right now that while GA is exceptional value (free) and the new release is great (well it looks great), it has nothing, not a patch, on what Omniture can do.

As an aside, I asked the trainer “Hey, why didn’t Google buy you instead of Urchin…?”

“They couldn’t afford us…” was the reply.

Obviously the long plane ride had impacted my American friends ability to think clearly. That or the fact that he was an idiot. Which he obviously wasnt. But his reply was idiotic. I didn’t have the energy to tackle him on it - and besides, he lived in Utah.

Next week I leave for the US to meet some very smart guys at Google. I’m then catching up (interviewing) some of the markets brightest and sharpest SEO and Blog experts. Then to London to finalise our office space there. There’s a lot of news coming down the wire re Google this week - something called Google Universal Search is getting a lot of airtime across the major blogs. As soon as I get my head around things, I’ll write more. Standby.
