Weekly Round-Up
Posted on May 25th, 2007 by Simon ChenOne of the good parts of my job is the people I get to meet.
Take this week for example.
On Tuesday, I spent half a day in Vancouver with Sherman Hu, one of the industry’s best regarded SEO and Blog experts.
On Wednesday, I spent some time with some folks at Google - at the famed Googleplex in Mountain View, California. I’ll write separately about this to do the visit justice. And to wet your appetite, everything you hear about the Googleplex is true (and more).
And yesterday, I spent the afternoon with Dave Taylor at his home town in Boulder, Colorado. Dave is one of the most respected online strategy and communications consultants around. He’ll probably be offended at this - but upon reflection, he reminds me of the online worlds’ “Yoda”.
Today (Friday in the US) - I’m heading down to Nashville to meet up with David Bullock, who is literally the “go-to” guy in Taguchi testing.
It’s been a good week - in terms of our my own education and relationships and that, hopefully translates into direct benefits for our clients.

Looking forward to get the details of Googleplex in California. I heard second Googleplex is coming up in Hyderabad (India), do u have any idea of how would it be? (please find it, many of my friends are eager to know)

You know, I never even thought about a second “Googleplex” but you’re right, it makes sense. The problem is, where do you stop? It would also be hard to replicate the environment and perhaps the regional or country managers at Google’s locations internationally would argue that their satellite offices are indeed their best effort of a replica of “the Plex” in California.

Yoda? Hmmm…. I guess it’s better than being the industry’s Darth Maul, but only barely.
