Vista Worries Me…

Posted on February 5th, 2007 by Simon Chen

Ok, I’ve been running Vista for a few days now, along with Office 2007.

The user experience is somewhat frustrating.

Firstly, Outlook 2007 is slow. And I’m running both Vista Business and Office 2007 on a brand new Sony Vaio, with Intel’s new core duo processer, 1 gig of ram and 120 gig hard drive.

There’s nothing wrong with the features. In fact, I probably won’t use 90% of what the applications can do.

But I think the graphics are just too heavy - especially in Outlook.

And there’s nothing more frustrating than upgrading to something new than to find out it’s no better than what you had. In this case, it’s potentially worse.

My attention span (and patience) is about 10 milliseconds when it comes to technology.

I’m happy to be proven wrong with Vista and Office - but at this stage, the jury is still out. I’ll let you know in another couple of weeks.

I’ll either have become Microsofts biggest convert. Or I’ll have thrown the laptop out of fast moving commuter train in despair.

      Hi Simon,
The timing of your Vista observations is perfect! I was at Sony on Saturday and debating between which machine to get. As usual, you are one more than one step ahead! Thanks for the heads up!
