The Power Of Email (Still)…

Posted on March 20th, 2007 by Simon Chen

People often ask us whether or not email is done and dusted as a marketing medium.

They want sexy. They want interactive. A lot of lights and bells and whistles.

One of our clients does a huge amount of email - and we send approximately 4-5 million emails on their behalf each and every month. Our opt-out rate is less than 1% on our broadcasts.

Viral Entrants and Referrals

This chart shows a current, live email competition thats running right now.

We launched the “viral” less than a week ago and in that time, nearly 18,000 people have entered and over 32,000 people have been referred (the viral part).

Granted, the client is using a $10,000 prize as an incentive, but there a lot of multi-nationals and big marketers out there who will spend a wad load more than that for a whole lot less.

By the end of this competition, our client will have added close to 25,000 net new email addresses to their database. All permission based and all opt-in. In excess of 100,000 will have been exposed to the clients brand - all via email.

In addition, the client will have also accumulated close to 15,000 mobile numbers - again all permission based.

Don’t think email marketing has any legs left? Think again.
