Sometimes Old Dogs Can Learn New Tricks…

Posted on April 5th, 2007 by Simon Chen

I’ve got a colleague who went out on her own a year ago or so.

We worked together in a past life and we kept in touch as we went on our separate journeys. I’m glad we did.

Julia set up BConsulted, a consulting and training company that teaches people how to be better networkers.

I haven’t told Julia this yet, but you know when you have a good friend or co-worker who goes out on their own and they are very passionate about their new venture but you somehow just dont share their enthusiasm.

Maybe I’ve become a cynical bastard in my old age.

Anyway, Julia was in Melbourne yesterday and she invited me to attend a workshop on networking. I’d like to think that I am ok at this part of life but I was so happy I attended this session.

Julia knocked it out of the park. The content was spot on, she has become an exceptional presenter, the interaction within the group was terrific, everyone had a good time and I actually wrote stuff down.

I learned 6 critical things about networking and I am keen for our small team to undertake the training as well.

Thoroughly recommend it.

And just proves that old dogs can learn new tricks. Even cynical pricks like me.
