Microsoft’s Global Head of Search Gone…

Posted on March 9th, 2007 by Simon Chen

I just can’t figure out why MSFT is in the search space at all.

Live Search has such a chasm to jump, that it’s almost unattainable - no matter how deep their pockets.

News recently that Chris Payne, their head of search is leaving only confirms that Microsoft will never be able to retain and hire the best search talent.

I also hear on the grapevine that another senior departure at local NineMSN has recently occurred. More on this later when I know more.

The chart below says it all - and these figures are a good 12 months old. Courtesy SeattleP-I.com
