Microsoft Gets Email Marketers Hopping…

This story relating to email marketing is beginning to ripple through the industry.

I’m not yet sure of the impact but it sounds like a royal pain in the bum.

Microsoft’s latest decision has the email marketing industry foaming at the mouth. (I won’t use the moniker that this link arrived in my inbox bearing, but let’s just say that Star Wars fans would recognize the way that the sender referred to Microsoft in sharing their plans for HTML in Outlook and how it is going to affect email marketers.)

      Dealing with HTML email is bad enough (from a programmer’s standpoint). But having to generate HTML email in a way that will render properly in Word’s horrible engine is a monumental task.

      Email wasn’t designed for anything but plain text. And HTML email isn’t standardized. Stick with plain text until a real standard emerges.
