The old stand-by when you can't come up with a better idea. I agree with you on this big-time, Simon. Prohibition is a failure of leadership. It's what leaders and managers and even parents do when they can't be bothered leading, managing or parenting. They throw their hands up in the air and say, "Well, let's just ban it!". There are many weaknesses with 'prohibition'. 1. It is a simplistic, knee-jerk response to a complex problem 2. It involves little or no innovative thinking and can easily be outwitted 3. It is the most costly of all soultions to administer and maintain and its greatest weakness of all ... 4. Prohibition doesn't work! It never removes the problem it is meant to solve. If a lot of people think there's a lot of crap on television ... should we just ban it? PROHIBITION! The old stand-by when you can’t come up with a better idea.
