Coffee Still Works

Posted on March 28th, 2007 by Simon Chen

In this connected world of email, of sms, of social networking, sometimes I think the art of picking up the phone and talking is becoming extinct.

Same goes for just having a coffee with someone.

Yesterday, I’m glad a mutual friend of mine still practices the art of human networking.

He introduced me to Rolf Sohner. Rolf and I had never met, but he took the initiative and set up the meeting.

We had a coffee. We found we had a lot more in common that I thought. He referred me to a freelancer that I had been looking for a while now.

And he got me thinking about an opportunity in London that I have been thinking about ever since I got back from the UK about a month ago.

Since he’s moving there, he might become a part of this. You never know.

And we achieved all this in under 30 minutes.

Trust me - have a coffee with someone soon.
