Safe Is Risky

Seth Godin posted a good article on his blog last week about generating traffic to your blog.

You dont have to dig very far to find out smart people who will tell you the in’s and out’s of blogging.

The blogs that attract the most traffic (ie readers) are the ones that stand for something.

You either identify with the author or not. You have a virtual relationship. You get used to their personality.

Most corporate’s dont get this.

Their websites, their email marketing, their attempts at viral marketing are all “safe”.

They wont offend, they keep true to the “brand” and they certainly aren’t risky.

Which is a pity.

Because mediocre marketing means mediocre results.
