Major TV Network Embraces YouTube

Posted on November 27th, 2006 by Simon Chen

I don’t know if our local networks will ever admit it publicly as their US counterparts do here, but the story is important.

Why?

Because at last, mainstream media, and more importantly, the most powerful of mainstream media (TV), are embracing the magnetic effect of video online as an effective “channel”.

No doubt this story, as much as it’s a solid piece of PR work by CBS, will put a smile on the faces of the financial folks at Google and YouTube.

Not that they’d need it. Google’s stock is still holding steady above the US$500 mark.

The online future is bright. And you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to work out that video will pay a huge part in shaping what lies ahead.
