From 1 to 100
Posted on October 25th, 2006 by Simon ChenGoogle used to have just 1 lawyer. Now it has 100.
Sign of the times? Perhaps. More so, in litigious America - a sign that the more successful you become, the more people want what you have.
This article from The New York Times takes a look at Google’s perspective on lawsuits.

The challenge with taking on Google is not only their deep pockets, but their legal teams technical prowess in the areas of intellectual property and the internet in general. You can bet that Google’s HR department has an open cheque book when it comes to recruitment.
Michael Kwun, left, and Alex Macgillivray (photo above) are just 2 of the 100 Google lawyers “working to establish a body of legal interpretation that favors the company”.
Reading between the lines, Google is determined to protect at virtually any cost going down the legal process to the point where it has to “open it’s kimono” so to speak and reveal the complex nature of it’s advertising (Adwords) model.
Definitely worth a read.
