Aussie Internet Slow As A Dog!
Posted on May 23rd, 2006 by Simon Chen
Top story circulating the F2 network today - James Packer, heir to the dynasty stated at the NineMSN Digital Summit in Sydney this week that Australia was lagging behind Europe and the US when it came to broadband access speed.
No surprise there.
It’s what happens when you let a monopoly (and the government) control and regulate the telecommunications infrastructure.
The folks at Microsoft and Nine are obviously smart enough to realise that with increased broadband speed (and penetration) comes higher use and more available content.
Something that the online ad world is screaming out for.
More importantly, something that Kerry’s number one son (and the local puppets at Microsoft) desperately want in on.
After all, there’s only so many banners that they can cram down our throats at once.
A severe lack of inventory is going to restrict growth in the online corridor.
New media such as blogs, podcasts and streaming video is going to open up new revenue streams for the industry.
And inventory (or yield management) is something that PBL are no stranger to.
